The Undergraduate Branch of AMWA at the University of Michigan is an organization comprised of women and men that seeks to create a diverse community dedicated to women in medicine—both as health care providers and health care recipients—through education, leadership, and advocacy.
The Vision and Voice of Women in Medicine since 1915
AMWA formed the first national organization of women physicians at a time when women physicians were an underrepresented minority and needed coordinated action by women in medicine.
AMWA entered the political arena on behalf of women physicians, advocating for policy changes that resulted in career advancement and leadership roles for women physicians.
